Delisting of land previously designated as contaminated
in Walsall UK leads to controversy.
Walsall Council could be hit with compensation claims over Stonegate and Trent Park estates determination.  
Land was suspected as contaminated after redevelopment of a former gasworks site for housing, and designated as contaminated by the local authority in 2012. 
This designation was overturned in 2017 by the secretary of state for environment following a public enquiry. The local authority took further advice and has
now concluded that the land is not contaminated. Compensation is now demanded by residents. See ... ...
