Organisation Outline:
The BGS aims to advance geoscientific knowledge of the UK landmass and its continental shelf by systematic surveying, long-term monitoring, effective data
management (e.g. National Groundwater Archive) and high-quality applied research via core, partnership and responsive programmes. The BGS undertakes
a wide variety of activities within the geoscience community throughout the UK and the rest of the world and provides data and professional advice and specialist
laboratory services. It hosts to websites of several (13) other geoscience organisations and has a GeoPortal that provides web links and contact details for
academic and commercial geoscience organisations and resources.
