Project objectives:
The project NETSFIELD - Networking and Training in Sustainable Brownfield Redevelopment - aims to work on two needs:

1. The need for training concerning sustainable brownfield redevelopment for transmitting research results to the level of practical work.

2. The need for experience exchange and networking between the actors from different regions.

The project NETSFIELD is a concerted project of Mission Bassin Minier in Nord-Pas de Calais, Zentrum für interdisziplinäre Ruhrgebietsforschung in the
Ruhr and Śląski Związek Gmin i Powiatów (Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts) in Upper Silesia. It is a Subproject of the Regional
Triangle of Weimar. In the spirit of the “Common Declaration for Co-operation in the Responsibility for the European Future”, signed on 29th August 1991 in Weimar by the foreign
ministers of Poland, France and German the three regions signed the regional “Declaration of Co-operation of the European regions North Rhine-Westphalia,
Nord-Pas de Calais and Silesia” on 24th August 2001. It reflects the will of reconciliation of the three countries at a regional level and underlines the will
to co-operate within the context of EU programmes. The idea of the project NETSFIELD is to install a network of experts in the partner regions with focus on innovative (urban embedded, sustainable) brownfield
management. The primary working unit of the project is composed of the three project partners from the three regions. They will build an expert group which will
form the basis for all the activities of the project. Guided by this formation it is planned to form a large scale network which includes various experts from
the three regions. This aim should be reached by concerted training courses and the use of an internet forum. The network should provide exchange of experience
in good or best practices and specific demands for handling problems (ask and help network). In order not to overload the project the technical aspects of contamination
will be excluded. The project will last 18 month. It has the character of a pilot project with the aim to prepare a follow up project, which will open the network for further European
Regions.
