Country: EU Projects
Start Date:           Duration: 30 months         Project Type: RTD
Contract Number: 037081
Organisation Type:  University research group / research institute
Topics:
Water resources and their management -->Monitoring and mitigation
Water resources and their management -->River basin management
Water resources and their management -->Stresses, quality and ecological status
Water resources and their management -->Water resources and their management Overview
Project objectives:
The project aims to develop and validate a Decision Support System for the risk assessment and management/prevention of negative impacts caused by global
change and human activity on the water-sediment-soil system at the scale of large river basins
Project Summary:
The project will integrate environmental and geophysical data from satellite and ground-based sources into a DSS using the WASS simulation system and an artificial
neural network (ANN). Three study areas will be used to apply and test the DSS: The Donana PArk wetland in Spain, the Elbe biosphere reserve in Germany and the
marshland and lagoons of the Po delta in Italy
Achieved Objectives:
At the time of writing the project has just commenced, therefore no output is available
