Groundwater Ordinance
Under Section 6a of the Federal Water Act, the Ordinance implementing EC Directive 80/68/EEC of 17.12.1979 on the protection of groundwater against pollution caused by certain dangerous substances (Groundwater Ordinance) was enacted on 18.03.1997. For the substances specified by EC law in Lists I and II the ordinance defines details of the application of provisions of water law and waste law and contains requirements regarding supervision and monitoring and minimum requirements for the contents of official authorisations. The ordinance does not contain any substantive requirements going beyond existing water law. The lists of substances are not exhaustive with regard to other water legislation.
