Short description: A Decision Support System for the assessment of the viability of heavy metal phytoextraction and phytostabilisation was constructed and then validated through mesocosm and field site experiments under varying conditions. Further experiments were also carried out to fill in knowledge gaps that would otherwise hamper the effectiveness of the DSS. Extension to end-users through feed-back procedures involving the DSS was undertaken throughout the different stages of development.
