Short description: The decision support system REC (Risk reduction, Environmental merit and Costs) is designed to include all these aspects in the comparison of different clean-up strategies for a single contaminated site. Given a contaminated site, the aim of REC is that of supporting the selection of the most effective and efficient remedial alternative. To do so, the three indices, Risk reduction, Environmental merit, and Costs, are defined, which are calculated for each remedial alternative and are the basis for the comparison.
