Short description: |
Size distribution, morphology and chemical composition of inhalable particles were studied in the urban atmosphere of our two largest cities Bratislava and Košice in late ninetieth (1997, 1998). The seasonal variability of concentration were observed and sources apportionment and size versus chemical composition relationships are discussed. The main sources of particulate pollution were identified. Inhalable particles are potentially dangerous for human health. This effect is negatively proportional to their dimensions. Thoracic fraction PM10 and respirable fraction PM2.5 of aerosols were studied in the urban atmosphere. Attention was paid to characterise the solid components of aerosols in communal and industrial zones.
