Short description:

Water is essential to lives and livelihoods. The European Water Framework Directive establishes new and better ways of protecting and improving the water environment. These new approaches require the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and the Environment Agency (in England and Wales) to work closely with others to produce a River Basin Management Plan for the Solway Tweed River Basin District by 2009.
