Short description: This document accompanies two consultation documents in connection with the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). They relate to • priority areas for action and potential mechanisms to tackle nonagricultural diffuse water pollution and • potential mechanisms to tackle hydromorphological pressures on the water environment. These two consultation papers are part of a much larger programme of work to implement the WFD in England and Wales. The purpose of this document is to set them in context and explain how they fit within the wider work programme.
