Short description: SuRF UK is the United Kingdom’s Sustainable Remediation Forum – an initiative set up to progress the UK understanding of sustainable remediation. The objectives of SuRF UK are ‘To develop a framework in order to embed balanced decision making in the selection of the remediation strategy to address land contamination as an integral part of sustainable development’. Sustainable remediation can be defined as the practise of demonstrating, in terms of environmental, economic and social indicators, that an acceptable balance exists between the effects of undertaking the remediation activities and the benefits the same activities will deliver.
