Short description: New Groundwater Regulations, taking into account responses to the consultation, will come into force on 10 August 2009. The new regulations will: * protect groundwater by preventing the direct discharge of certain hazardous substances * require anyone wishing to discharge other substances to go through an authorisation procedure * provide a more flexible risk-based approach
