Contaminated land-->Risk assessment-->Receptor: Human health
Project objectives:
The aim of this project has been to produce a user friendly handbook of exposure factor data for use in risk based decision making related to contaminated land.

Project Summary:
Exposure factors are the variables used to estimate human contact with various types of media, for example soil, air, groundwater. Appropriate values to use
for exposure factors will vary depending upon cultural and geographic factors that influence behaviour.
Achieved Objectives:
The source book has now been published by the European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC), Technical Report No. 79, Exposure Factors
Sourcebook for European Populations, with Focus on UK Data. The abstract and ordering information can be found under the technical report section of the ECETOC
website (http://www.ecetoc.org). Under the CEFIC Long Range Research Initiative (LRI), a project aimed at expanding the Sourcebook to include available data
for European populations has recently been initiated by KTL (the National Public Health Institute of Finland) (http://www.cefic.be/lri/ or http://www.ktl.fi).
