SCOREPP Source control options for reducing the emissions of priority pollutants

Country: EU Projects
Start Date:   1/11/2006         Duration: 36 months         Project Type: RTD
Contract Number:
Organisation Type:  EC Project
Topics:
Diffuse pollution-->Sources
Water resources and their management -->River basins
Water resources and their management -->Stresses, quality and ecological status
Project objectives:
The main objective of the SCOREPP project is to develop comprehensive and appropriate source control strategies that authorities, cities, water utilities
and chemical industry can employ to reduce emissions of priority pollutants (PPs) from urban areas into the receiving water environment. SCOREPP focuses
on the 33 PPs identified in the Water Framework Directive (WFD), and specifically on the 11 priority hazardous substances. However, this list may be expanded
to include emerging pollutants or reduced if appropriate model compounds can be identified, depending on the local context.
Project Summary:
SCOREPP aims to assess a wider selection of pollutants including all the
priority pollutants and an additional list of relevant pollutants. This project
will develop appropriate strategies to reduce emissions from urban areas
into the receiving waters. The activities include the identification of sources
in urban areas, identification of measures, assessing their
cost-effectiveness and validation of the strategies on a number of selected
case studies. Interaction with relevant stakeholders is also an integral part
of the project.
