Short description: EXTRACT: The Strategy for Sustainable Construction represents a commitment from the industry to work towards this vision by reducing its carbon footprint and its consumption of natural resources, while creating a safer and stronger industry by training and retaining a skilled and committed workforce. It lays out specific actions by industry and by Government which will contribute to the achievement of overarching targets within each of the main areas covered by the sustainability agenda. For its part, in its 2007 Sustainable Procurement Action Plan the Government set out its aim for procure more sustainable properties and infrastructure to be procured throughout the public sector. This Strategy also aims to provide greater clarity about the range of Government commitments and targets which are relevant to the delivery of a sustainable construction industry.
