Short description: This paper provides a brief review of the substantial body of work that exists on the interrelated issues of industrial ecology and eco-innovation or eco-industrial parks (hereafter referred to as eco-innovation parks – EIPs). The report relates this to the evolving theme of clean technology development. Specific reference is made to lessons learnt from the Churchill Travelling Fellowship sponsored study tour to the USA, Japan and China which sought to evaluate the role of eco parks and industrial ecology thinking in developing new paradigms of regional sustainable development and regeneration.
