Project objectives:
Through the cooperation on this pilot project it is envisaged that several goals will be achieved:
* local partners will obtain products about brownfield reuse that they can disseminate
* partners from outside the immediate region will obtain products that are:
- suitable for their own use
- suitable to be applied by them in other dissemination projects
* generic products will be created that will be transferable to other European countries
Educational packages produced by the LEPOB project would address brownfields on cross-thematic and cross-professional grounds and be adjusted to suit Central European training formats and contexts. Products will principally accelerate the immediate knowledge of chartered professionals, who work in the broadest variety of posts - consultants, civil servants, local government administrators, regulators and policy makers. These professionals are in an immediate position to use and implement the added knowledge. We want to deliver the missing expertise in the fastest, most direct and effective way as we believe the transfer of Western European expertise may provide a mutually beneficial forum for exploring and solving brownfield problems specific to Central Europe.

Project
Summary:
One of the main barriers to regeneration in Eastern and Central Europe appears to be the lack of stakeholder knowledge and education. LEPOB is designed to deliver the missing expertise in the area of ‘brownfields’ reuse/regeneration in the fastest, most direct and effective manner, via regionally available programmes. The project seeks to disseminate relevant European expertise and provide a mutually beneficial forum for exploring and solving ‘brownfields´ problems specific to Central Europe. The project materials are designed to foster transfer and adoption by other countries/projects (we are currently seeking potential partners from Baltic and Balkan regions).
Potential Users of project results:
* Professionals that have language skills can take advantage of the course demonstration and use gained knowledge to enhance their practice.
* Professionals and academics may become teachers/lecturers of the course outputs in a local language.
* By applying for funding of new local projects they will actively disseminate the project results.
* Professionals that do not have language skills will participate on local language course versions using project products adapted to the local language.
* Students will be able to take an adapted local university course
* All regional stakeholders will be able to use LEPOB project web site with an option of a local language version web site
* This will enhance and improve the participating countries ability to deal with the brownfields issue and it will create the required critical mass of knowledge.
* This will lead to (and enable) policy changes, legal framework amendments and the creation of new tools to aid brownfield solutions.
