Country: EU Projects
|
Start Date:
1/1/1993
Duration: 31
months
Project Type: RTD
|
Contract Number: EV5V-CT920196
|
Organisation Type:
University research group / research institute |
Topics:
Contaminated land-->Remediation options-->Recycling/reuse
|
Project objectives:
To investigate some new alternatives in the field of recycling of fly ashes from urban solid waste, to assess their environmental impact, to identify the possible final building products, to compare the relative advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches.
|
Project
Summary:
Three technologies were examined, namely:
fly ash combined with hydraulic binders based on silica to obtain special aggregates for concrete
'gres' material in the form of sinterised pellets, to obtain aggregates for concrete and bitumen
Spinning of fly ash mixtures in the form of thin fibres, to be used in lime, concrete and bitumen composites.
A fourth task investigated the recycling of exhausted fluorescent, energy saving, high pressure and cathode ray tubes.
