Quantitative structure activity relationships for predicting fate and effects of chemicals in the environment

Country: EU Projects
Start Date:   1/1/1993         Duration: 30 months         Project Type: RTD
Contract Number: EV5V-CT920211
Organisation Type:  University research group / research institute
Topics:
Contaminated land-->Risk assessment-->Models
Contaminated land-->Soil and groundwater processes-->Modelling
Diffuse pollution-->Diffuse pollution overview
Diffuse pollution-->Monitoring
Project objectives:
To develop a predictive instrument for the assessment of environmental risks of chemical substances based on their structure-activity relationships

Project Summary:
The project consisted of five tasks:

1 A critical review of existing models for environmental fate and effect parameters

2 Development of schemes and multivariate models for the classification of chemical compounds

3 Development of new QSAR models for predicting chemical reactivity, biotic or abiotic degradation and biotransformation

4 Application of the models to the estimation of adsorption of sediment to soil, chemical degradation, biodegredation, biotransformation, bioconcentration
and toxic effect concentrations (aquatic and terrestrial species) 5 Validation of the models
Achieved Objectives:
