Project
Summary:
The FLOODsite Project is structured into seven distinct themes:
- Advanced scientific knowledge and understanding
- Innovative mitigation and sustainable management
- Technological integration
- Pilot application sites
- Training activities
- Project networking and harmonisation
- Project management
Within each area work has been divided into a total of 35 project tasks. Seven pilot study areas have been established across Europe:
- Thames Estaury
- Ebro Delta
- Elbe Basin
- Tisza Basin
- Bight Coast (Germany)
- Scheldt Estuary
- Flash Flood Basins
The Pilot Sites provide real locations with real problems that act as an integrated part of the research and development work. Interaction between research and the pilot sites works both ways, with the pilot sites offering a means of testing and applying tools and methods to real situations and also feeding back detailed operational requirements, issues and problems that require attention. NOt all tools are applied in all locations.
