Organisation Outline:
The National Sanitary Survey Institute InVS), publicly-owned establishment of the State, placed under the supervision of the ministry for Solidarity, Health and the Family, has the role of supervising the health of the whole of the population, and of alerting the authorities in the event of threat for the public health. The collection and the analysis of the epidemiologic data require that InVS mobilizes, animate and coordinate a network of public health which includes/understands professionals of health, institutes of research, establishments of public or deprived care, cases of sickness insurance, associations of patients and users. The data of medical monitoring are addressed to the authorities in the form of recommendations making it possible to direct the policies of health then to evaluate them. They also concern the professionals of health who launch these policies. Lastly, it is necessary to inform the whole population. This Sanitary Survey is the expression of the medical democracy, that of the division of knowledge, on the dangers and the risks, to promote health. INVS is a key stage of the development and evaluation of the policies of public health. It is a responsibility shared by the whole agencies of medical safety in particular the French Agency of medical safety of the food (Afssa), the French Agency of medical safety of the products of health (Afssaps) and the French Agency of medical safety of the environment (Afsse) with which InVS builds its step of expertise, monitoring and alarm.
