Organisation Outline:
Welcome to the website of the Ad-Hoc Industry Natural Resource Damage Group (“Group”). We are a large group of multinational industrial companies focused on natural resource damages liability and related legal, policy and methodological issues under US Federal and State laws (such as Superfund, Clean Water Act and the Oil Pollution Act) and the Environmental Liability Directive and associated Directives of the European Union.
The Group was founded in 1988. That’s nearly 20 years experience on virtually every aspect of natural resource damage assessment and restoration issues…and hundreds of years of collective experience among the Group’s members.
In 2002, the Group expanded its purview to the European Union Environmental Liability Directive, which embraces concepts very similar to the natural resource damage schemes under US laws. The Group has been able to use its extensive experience in NRDAR policy and practice to inform stakeholders in the EU as regimes are developed in order to meet the requirements of the Directive.
The Group has an unmatched repository of case and site data and related documents and resource materials on NRDAR and associated topics. The Group has worked to shape sound policies, practices and precedents on NRDAR issues, coordinated industry positions and supported companies in devising corporate-wide and site-specific strategies and assessments.
The Group has spurred state of the art advancements and served as a resource to the broad industrial community. Hundreds of companies turn to the Group when they need NRDAR information – from who to contact in a specific government authority to what techniques are being used to restore certain natural resources. Now, the same can be said about companies in the EU. They are turning to the Group to learn about how the ELD will be implemented in specific Member States and how it may affect their companies.
