Organisation Outline:
BURA was formed in 1990 to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, experience and information for the emerging regeneration sector. It is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation. There are two levels of membership. Affiliate membership allows access to all BURA events and published information, possible co-option on to the specialist groups formed by the Steering and Development Forum.
The BURA Steering and Development Forum is significantly involved in regeneration policy and best practice, with the objective of influencing others in this field, including Government. Membership is limited, but representative of all sectors. It commissions research projects to study issues at the leading edge of the regeneration debate. Copies of the reports can be downloaded as pdf files. In addition to facilitating research, the SDF also compiles detailed responses to government consultations on issues that overlap with the interests of the group.
BuraNet is a web-based knowledge management system for all those with an interest in regeneration. Provided for exclusive benefit of BURA members, it is aimed at regeneration professionals and practitioners requiring a regular flow of relevant information.
BURA supplies training at several levels: including a Post Graduate Certificate in Management (Urban Regeneration) by work based learning.
