Organisation Outline:
The main activities of the Centre for Contaminated Land Remediation (CCLR) are research and consultancy in the assessment and monitoring of contaminants and their transportation on soil, rock and water and the remediation of contaminated land.
Expertise covers assessment of risk, site investigation techniques including analytical tools and GIS methods, regulatory framework for the clean-up of contaminated land and groundwater, on-site pollution behaviour, current aned developing research on pollutant behaviour, remediation techniques, establishing new landscapes and post remediation planning and water quality.
Medway Sciences is a centre of research, teaching and training the areas of pharmaceutical, food and environmental chemistry, agrochemistry and biotechnology. Their work helps understanding of environmental biodegradation and thence development of bioremediaiton technologies.
Envirommental expertise within the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences includes analytical services, polymers chemistry, including selective materials for the clean-up of oil spills, etc. and bioremediation and phyto-remediation technology for the treatment of hydrocarbon contaminated soils.
