Organisation Outline: 
The year 2004 is important as it brings the launch of Cemagref's new strategic direction for the 2004-2008 period, along with 3 main areas of focus :    
   
The development of methods, tools and expertise in environmental science : building of knowledge on environmental systems (favoring medium-scale and 
integrated approaches).     
   
The exploration of links between the sustainable management of land and of water : developing research on the role of water in land dynamics, considering 
the governance issues raised on different scales by water management,     
   
The strengthening and structuring of research on certain hazards : forest fires, floods and droughts, avalanches and landslides, agricultural pollutions, 
emerging pollution on natural environments, hydraulic infrastructures breakage, water networks risks, risks related to the use of agricultural equipment, 
food preservation hazards.
