Short description: |
Generic guidance is provided for the transparent and consistent assessment of the costs and benefits for remediation of contaminated land using a primary model procedure entitled Evaluation and Selection of Remedial Measures. This provides a framework by which the costs and benefits of 2 or more remedial options for a given site can be assessed
|
Long description: |
The guidance includes 3 case studies illustrating the application of cost-benefit analysis to real contaminated sites. The assessment comprises clearly defined stages allowing the user to move to the most appropriate level of assessment, for a particular remediation problem, and to stop the assessment if it is realized that a preferred option can be clearly identified in terms of costs and benefits. The guidance is aimed at all parties with an interest in the remediation and future use of a contaminated site
