Short description:

The PAEQANN project aims to develop predictive tools that can be easily applied to identify problems in ecosystem functioning resulting in degradation. Ecosystem analysis with empirical statistical and analytical methods is often limited by the spatial complexity and the temporal dynamics of ecological processes. Therefore, alternative mathematical methods have to be developed. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) provide an attractive alternative tool for analysing ecological data and for modelling ecological (effect) relations. This report summarises the results of the ANN models obtained in the PAEQANN project.
