Short description: |
Source control measures seem to be the new way to approach problems in the water
system. By local infiltration and daylighting stormwater discharge, water becomes
ones again part of the living environment after decades of being underground.
Because of this, the work field of the water manager has become more complex,
dealing not only with the technical aspects, but also with spatial and social aspects
within the context of the dynamic urban area. This paper is about how to deal with this
complexity the water manager experiences in his altering field of work. Three forms of
water management will be painted using the aspect theory and complexity theory as
building bricks. These forms enable the water manager to reflect on water
management. In addition to this the forms show that the interaction with the living
environment not only is necessary, but also offers new opportunities as contextual
water management can take up the challenge of nowadays water problems.
