Within the TRANSCAT Project structure, the main objective of the Work Package 2 - Establishment of European Platform - is to build a structure of contacts, information, knowledge, data, apt at the creation of a bridge between project research, ongoing activities of the EU and national institutions related to the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). The first step in launching a European platform was to create a periodic publication to foster the relationship and communication within the water management community: the TRANSCAT electronic newsletter summarises the main results and news from the TRANSCAT project together with the Water Framework Directive projects. The second step taken by FEEM for the establishment of a European platform was the launch of the TRANSCAT online platform. The aim of the platform is to promote discussion and co-operation in problems related to water resource use. The platform consists in a web forum open to all registered users and will accompany the project research development along the project duration.
