Short description: |
Biomonitoring of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems became a frequent and valuable approach that is widely recognized as necessary supplement of still more standard chemical monitoring programmes. Although there is an increasing number of scientific papers devoted to the bioindication at the level of individual species or individual specimen (toxicity and genotoxicity testing, biomarkers, ..), complex biomonitoring at the ecosystem level seems to be rather difficult to manage and interpret. Real environmental data are principally multivariate and are associated with numerous problems including missing values or lack of parameters. This presentation is aimed to introduce complex and user friendly software tools that are developed for practical but also scientific management of data from biomonitoring studies and networks. Special attention is focused on the following problems.
