Short description: |
Concentration of benzo(a)pyrene was investigated in atmospheric air and deposition at 2 urban and 3 rural sites in the eastern region of the Baltic Sea. The monthly average concentration of benzo(a)pyrene varied from 0.04 ng⋅m-3 and to 0.88 ng⋅m-3 in warm season and from 0.41 ng⋅m-3 and to 2.99 ng⋅m-3 in cold season in atmospheric air of the remote sites. Annual deposition of benzo(a)pyrene to the ground surface varied from 14.0 µg⋅m-2 at remote site to 24.7 µg⋅m-2 at the suburb of the city. These variations mainly are caused by influence of local sources of pollution with increasing urbanization level on the seashore and other remote sites.
