Long description:

Evidence-based policy requires an input from scientific research that answers questions of interest to policy makers. This paper describes the process of selection of 100 key policy questions from an original list of over 1000. The questions covered most areas of concern in the UK (and these largely reflected in the rest of Europe and possibly the developed world in general) including land management, agriculture and ecosystem manegement. Key areas of interest to EUGRIS include pollution, climate change, carbon management, habitat management and restoration. Policy makers in general prefer more broad questions, reflecting their priorities; these are genrally more difficult for scientists to address. Greater communication between policy makers and scientists is recommended.
