Short description: |
This paper presents the emerging conclusions and issues relating to the production of soil guideline values (SGVs). SGVs are intended as helpful tools for local authorities to use in determining that land is contaminated on the basis that there is a significant possibility of significant harm being caused (SPOSH), in relation to human health effects, as set out in the Statutory Guidance (c.f. Defra Circular 01/2006, Annex 3, Chapter A). SGVs are derived from a published set of technical documents - Contaminated Land Reports (CLRs 7 -10). CLRs 7 -10 set out the scientific and technical approach taken in the development of toxicological (TOX) and SGV reports for individual substances.
