Short description: |
The Roadmap should also be seen in the context of worldwide efforts to achieve
a transition towards a green economy. It draws extensively on a range of sources which are
referenced in the accompanying Staff Working Document, including the European
Environment Agency's report on the state and outlook for the European Environment.
Section 4.6 focuses on Land and soils.
It states as milestones: By 2020, EU policies take into account their direct and indirect impact on land
use in the EU and globally, and the rate of land take is on track with an aim to achieve no
net land take by 2050; soil erosion is reduced and the soil organic matter increased, with
remedial work on contaminated sites well underway.
