Short description:

This report provides an overview of the implementation of the Thematic Strategy for Soil Protection1 since its adoption in September 2006. The objective of the Strategy is to protect the soil while using it sustainably, through the prevention of further degradation, the preservation of soil function and the restoration of degraded soils. This report also presents current soil degradation trends both in Europe and globally, as well as future challenges to ensure protection.
