Short description: MISP is an analytical model for estimating the impact on groundwater, of a pollutant source located above the water table.
Long description: MISP allows several options for pollutant source behaviour: - A constant source concentration, of limited duration, - A source concentration which decays exponentially, - A source concentration defined by diffusive pollutant release from a solid matrix (case of stabilised waste), - An arbitrary source concentration, read in a separate file. The main characteristic of MISP, compared to analogous analytical models, is that it does not rely on the hypothesis of a ' mixing layer ' to estimate an aquifer concentration below the source zone. MISP combines, through convolution, a solution for vertical pollutant migration from the source to the water table, with a 3-D solution for migration in the aquifer from a horizontal plane source located at the water table.
