Short description: CARACAS: Concerted Action Initiative within the Environment and Climate Programme of the European Commission DG XII. Member States of the EU are developing soil quality criteria and risk assessment procedures. In order to concentrate these efforts and to support harmonised principles in environmental protection legislation within the European Union, a scientific co-operation between the European Member States was initiated: the Concerted Action on Risk Assessment for Contaminated Sites. Closed in 1998, and its work was incorporated into CLARINET.
