Short description: |
A UK group of stakeholders, the Forum's focus is to raise the awareness of groundwater in education and business.

Long description: |
The UK Groundwater Forum came out of a Strategic Study of Groundwater Issues and Research Needs in the UK with the aim of promoting a co-ordinated approach to groundwater research and providing a focus for the identification and prioritisation of research issues. Following a stakeholder meeting in June 2003, it was decided that the Forum would be more effective if it limited its focus to raising the awareness of groundwater, something for which it was felt there is a strong need but for which no organisation in the UK has a remit. This web site is the primary tool for achieving this aim. Specific aims are to:
„h Raise the awareness of groundwater and the role it plays in supporting the environment and in water supply
„h Provide information on groundwater targeted at specific groups such as decision makers, policy makers and schoolchildren
„h Improve the teaching of groundwater in schools by providing educational resources, or links to existing resources
„h Promote careers in groundwater-related professions
„h Produce and disseminate information and facilitate discussion on topical groundwater issues within the water and environment community
„h Provide a means for those in the water and environment community to share information
