The Information Centre is a central source of information about the Water Framework Directive. It helps a wide range of interested parties understand what the Directive involves and raises awareness of how it will lead to an even cleaner and healthier water environment. The objective is to complement the activities of the key organisations, such as government and the environmental regulators, which are closely involved in the implementation of the Directive.
Some of the activities that the Information Centre is involved with include:
? Providing easy-to-understand explanations of the Water Framework Directive and water management issues through its website;
? Providing information at the national level to support the implementation of the Directive via its website, newsletters, leaflets and displays;
? Providing links through its website to important sources of information and advice;
? Encouraging involvement in local environmental issues associated with the Directive;
? Bringing groups together to address issues of concern;
? Providing information for schools, colleges and universities to help in understanding the challenges of water management;
? Facilitating training related to particular water management issues to support the implementation of the Directive.
