Soil is at the very heart of many landscaping and land regeneration projects, and plantings succeed or fail by the condition of the soil materials in which they are placed. In a recent survey of landscape contractors only 5% were regularly satisfied with the condition of the soils they were required to plant into, citing poor quality topsoil and compaction as the main reasons for plant failure.
