Short description: Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) is an increasingly important part of the decision-making process for managing environmental problems. Under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, ERA clearly has a key role in the ecological assessment of contaminated land. This report describes a decision-making framework to identify sites where ecoreceptors may be subject to risk from contaminants. It also reports the use of biological tests to determine whether ecoreceptors are at risk of harm from soil contaminants.
