Short description: The report provides an in-depth characterisation of the geological structure and the contamination status of the two case study sites of the PEREBAR project on permeable reactive barriers, namely Pécs, Hungary, and Brunn a. G., Austria. The former is located in an area of former uranium mining and processing, while the latter is the site of a former tar plant and a linoleum production plant. The report also aimed to identify a suitable site for an experimental reactive barrier installation in Hungary and to evaluate the sites in the context of their feasibility for passive remediation and the construction of permeable reactive barriers.
