Short description: Extract: 'Primary research identified a total 5,938 hectares of regeneration land across 67 sites. 3,014 hectares (51%) of land identified falls across the English Regions, which represents around 5% of the total 66,000 hectares of brownfield land identified through the National Brownfield Strategy. Sources of data include Urban Regeneration Companies (URCs), Land Restoration Trust (LRT), and regeneration partnerships, with the majority of information provided through RDA and Development Agency contacts.'
Long description: Extract: '[The] report presents a summary of the findings of a recent study investigating the opportunities for using compost in the regeneration and remediation of brownfield and derelict sites across the UK. Regional Development Agencies (RDAs), Development Agencies in the devolved administrations, and private sector organisations were consulted as part of an exercise to identify sites capable of using compost for landscaping, non-engineered fill, mulch or remedial applications. Organisations were asked to consider sites which could potentially utilise composts in forthcoming projects.'
